Thanks teriwtt and doughill - My bad…I didn’t mean to sound so harsh about the white background and small font. The only forum I go to these days is the parent cafe so I probably missed your other responses. I appreciate the short term solution for the font size by going command +

Hi - first I apologize that I haven’t read the other 28 pages in this thread. And secondly, thanks to all the mods. Change is always difficult and I know you guys work hard at this. So a question or two. First, when I’m in a forum if I click on the avatar or name of the most recent poster, I’m taken to an activity page that appears to show PMs between the poster and others. This seems odd. Also, for forums (fora?) I’m following it would be nice to be taken to the first unread post. I can’t figure out where my private messages have gone and how to access my control panel but need to fish around a bit to figure it out.

It’s the old Visitor Messages that had visibility before. Real PMs re still private. Inbox is the envelope icon on top right of profile page.
And, I can only see the “Latest Posts” link on my left if I open a thread.
[I mean the big hybrid list of all latest.]

@Emaheevul07 I will make a note of your issue with the inconvenience when logging back in. Are you taking advantage of the “Remember Me” functionality that will keep you logged in for a prolonged period of time?

Also the mobile site is working for us. What device, OS and browser are you using? This is helpful for us to troubleshoot issues. Thanks for your help!

I mean the big hybrid list of all new posts.

Btw, I tried to add these lines to the above post, hit save, the added words don’t show up. Oh, well. [Worked this time.]

Thanks, Lookingforward. And I also found my PMs - I’m getting there!

@doughill, how do we send someone a visitors message?

@doughill, I do most of my browsing on public computers, so I can’t take advantage of the remember me feature.

As for my mobile site issue, I am using safari through an iphone 4, version 6.1.2. I had problems with slowness, lagging, and crashing with the old mobile site and as a result preferred to view the regular site in my browser instead of using the app of the mobile site, an option I no longer have. On the current mobile site I have the same slowness and lagging, I am having difficulty with scrolling because the gray box at the bottom jumps up over the whole screen, and there is no way to navigate to the end of a thread. I anticipate the navigation issue will be fixed but I am afraid the slowness, lagging, and difficulty with scrolling are here to stay which will seriously cut down on how much I am here. Usually browsing through CC on my phone is my go-to “I have 5 minutes and I’m bored” activity.

I feel your pain, Ema.

I spent a lot of my time on CC through my phone. I no longer browse CC through my phone. It’s hard to navigate through forums. I have easily accessible way to get back to a forum to see the most recent posts. Ugh…it’s a large hassle. I have iOS7 and do not have much experience with lagging. Although, that gray bar jumps around a bit at times…and there’s times when it disappears entirely! Making me have to swipe back a few pages for it to appear again.

@BTMell I have researched your observation, however no PM’s have been exposed. What you are seeing on a member’s profile is the member’s profile wall interactions with another member. This was a feature on the old CC that wasn’t exposed very well and frankly kind of hidden. If there is a specific member that believes a PM has been made visible for other members, please PM me that member’s screenname and we will immediately look into it. Privacy and security is a priority for us at CC.

Anyone can find their profile page by clicking on their screenname.
BTMell, you can find your specific profile here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/687056/BTMell

You can access your Inbox by clicking the mailbox icon at the top of the screen for regular users and at the lower left corner for mobile skin users.

I’ve made a note on our member feedback list regarding taking you to the first unread post.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I assure you that it is taken seriously and will be discussed as we continue to develop and bring you the best college information website on the internet.

Thanks, Doughill - much appreciated.

@Niquii77 we only have PM’s right now. To send a PM, follow these instructions.

Q: How do I send private message?
Option 1: Click the Inbox Icon in the top navigation, Click new message, Enter the users name(s) you would like to message
Option 2: Click on a users name in the forum, Click the Message button
Option 3: Navigate here directly: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/messages/inbox

These and many more helpful hints can be found here on this growing list of FAQs: <a href=“CollegeConfidential Update FAQ - College Confidential Community - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/1609348-collegeconfidential-update-faq-p1.html

@doughill, ok. Thank you for the step by step instructions.

To address the mobile concern. We have made mobile a top priority concern for everything CC. Every project will have a priority mobile discussion. We are working to optimize the mobile app and it will be functioning soon. I will have a better idea of a target date in the upcoming days. We have noticed some lagging too in the general mobile use and have contacted our mobile development staff to look into this effect and make necessary adjustments to offer you the best mobile experience available.

Please note, we’re working really hard and listening to all of your concerns. We know you express those concerns and ideas because you are equally as passionate about making CC the best site possible. We value your feedback. Thank you so much for being an awesome community.

Thank you @BTMell, your feedback and support is sincerely appreciated. :-bd

Latest Posts is not working.

Doug, welcome to CC. It seems you are the designated “complaint department” recipient.

I have no issues with posting and reading posts. I’m not thrilled with all of the white, small font, and lack of borders.

I am a long time poster. I deleted all of those PMs because I wanted them deleted. It would be nice to be able to ditch them again even if I’m the ONLY one who is seeing them. Seems like a waste of storage space to store a gazillion PMs.

In addition, it is very helpful to me to be able to read prior and other posts by a poster before I respond to them. It gives a better context.

The report post function really needs to be fixed. I’m guessing it is helpful to the moderators to have posts reported ASAP that are problematic. And as noted upstream, there have already been some. If the flag to report posts is now working, great. It has not been (when you submit, you are told you don’t have permission).

Agree with others about numbering the posts in each thread. Very useful.

@thumper1 thanks for the warm welcome. You’re actually the first to welcome me. I’ve been a long time lurker, but only recently jumped into the CC Community as an active member.

A little background on me, I’ve been with Hobsons for over 5 years, however I’ve been specifically working with CC for the last year and a half. I guess my enthusiasm to help others could be interpreted as the unofficial complaint department, but honestly I don’t view these as complaints but more so as building blocks for a better CC experience. I too share many of your comments in your feedback along with your passion. We are working feverishly to address them all in a order of priority.

As you know, there’s nearly 700,000 of you and only a about a dozen of us working on the CC Forum Product Team, so you all out number us by… well my math isn’t too sharp right now after responding to all these inquiries, but it’s a lot! :)

I’ve noted the items you’ve mentioned and will bring many of these up tomorrow in our morning meeting. That doesn’t mean they’ll be addressed and changed by tomorrow morning, but please understand we are working diligently to bring you all the very best available.

We sincerely appreciate you all and hope you continue to show us some patience as we continue to mold the site into a great experience. Grace and patience goes a long way, and we are very appreciative for every amount that you show us!

Have an awesome night CC Community!

P.S. I’m also looking forward to the IPad application working again!

Hoping the “adjustments” you are all making go a tad more smoothly than the rollout!

And the report post function is working fine. One thing done…??? More to go!

It’s only 6pm. The night is still young.
