I am running FireFox on Windows. I don’t know if the add-ons work on the mac.

I’m finding that getting rid of the white space makes the white background a lot less annoying. Which makes sense - a lot of the news sites I read use a white background, when you edit a document it has a white background, etc. It’s not the white per se, it’s the wide open spaces of it.

I definitely see a grey area at the top of each post now. It’s subtle, but it’s there - and it makes a difference for my eyes and I promise you, I DON’T have good eyes!!

New problem. I can’t log in and am not getting the change my password emails. Just happen to have remained logged in on my office computer. But, that’s it. Nowhere else is possible. Sigh.

I am thinking that they didn’t expect us all to be using the ad block, so they were not anticipating all the white space. Perhaps thats the whole point of not changing it? With the exception of a small New York Times ad at the top of my page, I have absolutely no ads - just white space. That can’t be encouraging for the advertisers.

The white space vertically for me was due to superfluous (IMO) padding, and space taken up by avatars.

Horizontally I think it had to do with fixed-width fields. If you have a wide browser this results in huge empty columns of white space on both side.

When I go on my IE, which doesn’t have adblock, the ads are large and cover most of the white space.

ETA: I just noticed that my IE was incredibly zoomed in. When I readjusted it to the normal size, it does leave a ton of white space on both sides.

I don’t get ads or banners, but have Kaspersky on the laptop (Chrome.) I also have a nice font size and was seeing the lines between the posts before it was mentioned here. Ads are aggravating, especially the dancing ones. For now, I am not seeing ads or banners on my phone. I was, before.

I’m now seeing the featured threads have a blue background, and the vertical columns for replies and views are blue. That’s a big help.

Also, I’m noticing that any thread I opened is now a light blue. That really helps to break up the large mass of white space. So I guess that is a motivator to read more threads.

I am still not getting CC for android to work. Reinstalled CC and tapatalk. Can I assume it’s still a work in progress? Need to have something to do in the dr’s office. ;)
