My droid CC is working. Chrome, I assume. But, dang, on laptop or phone, it’s a hassle to find the Replies link (my own posting list.) Have to go back and forth. Sometimes it shows if I am in a thread, other times, not.

Lookingforward…CC works on the phones when using a browser. The iPad and android applications are not working (unless they were fixed in the last hour).

@notrichenough - I really like how compact your screen looks and you can see more than 2 posts on a page. How did you do that?
I do think though that the flag like helpful and fb tabs should be off to the left under the posters information or off to the far right OR they should just have one comment button that when you click or hover over it THEN the flag like and helpful etc should appear. I hate seeing those under each post.

@Midhelper - I use FireFox, with an add-in called “Customize Your Web”. This lets you override elements of the web page to change it to your liking.

I accomplished everything just by modifying a few of the CSS styles to change some colors, get rid of the avatars, and get rid of a lot of white space.

If you want to do this, let me know and I will post the script that you can import into Customize Your Web. It’s really easy.

I was reading NRE’s comments about “Customize your web”. Poked around and found that Chrome users can do about the same thing using an extension called “Stylebot”. I’m playing now, have already gotten rid of some of the excess space at top & bottom of replies, changed font, changed some background colors…at some point I’ll get a layout that I like.

Oh and I just noticed that our Status (ie, Senior member) is now shown only once…when did that happen?

Another request: In the poast with autonotification if you didn’t go to the site and read after you received a few, you stopped receiving notification of any new posts in that thread. That was handy, as it [revented what is now happening-- email being flooded with unwanted notices (again without content) so PLEASE fix both of these issues. All the emails seem to be freezing up my computer, if thats possible.

Having done my share of griping on this thread, I have to add this:

I just spent 20 minutes or so researching a specific college, one that is suddenly now on our radar, but previously I was completely unaware of. I sent a PM to a poster in that college forum, and almost immediately got a message back. I trust this poster’s opinions based on years of following other threads all over CC. I know that s/he will pass along some valuable information. And THAT is why we all are here, and why we are willing to tough out some issues with the new CC.

So thank you, CC. Sometimes (like lately, when there are years between kids applying to college) it is easy to forget why this place exists.

I am missing the dropdown for names when I want to send a PM (it’s easier to have that list than to have to remember every number/letter/pun in one’s screen name. Also miss the “find other posts by…” A regular search doesn’t pull up those posts, and sometimes that function is VERY handy (in non-nefarious ways).

Counting, to find other posts by - just click on persons username and it takes you to their profile page. Then click on replies and all their posts will be there.

When I look at my own list of posts, it’d be nice to be able to see which ones people have responded to versus which ones they haven’t. I have to go to the thread itself to see “X new.” The “X new” is nice, but it would be nice to have it on my list of replies, too.

Is there a way for the site developers to shrink the white space before and after a post? On my computer, there is a full 3/4 of an inch between the “flag/like/helpful/facebook” line and the gray line separating it below. There’s simply no need for all that space. Is that an easy fix?

It’d be great if one of the CC folks told us what are easy fixes for them and what are more difficult. Those of us without computer knowledge don’t have a clue.

There is a specific cc app that you download and mobile is just the mobile site. I can’t comment on how the app works because I only had it for a few days before I deleted it as I much preferred the mobile site.

I see slightly less white- honestly this is giving me a glare headache- make it back to a more dull color, and get rid of the sides and space- the avatars are so big! and the names are tiny, should be the other way around. I will come back when this site improves… I rarely complain but this new look is really not only disappointing it is a turn off…and a headache… will check back later to see if i can stand it anymore. I LOVED THE WAY IT USED TO BE! Sometimes it is hard to admit mistakes.
