For those who were accepted, did you get an email telling you to check your portal? thanks
Yes
Wow, 35,000 applicants for EA! Does anyone know how many acceptances there were?
I have a feeling that weāll be in the same boat⦠May I ask when the application was sent in, please? Our son just submitted his around December 17th, so Iām assuming that heāll be a regular decision. I asked him what heād do if he was deferred, and he said heād move on. No big shakes with him - Iām the one stressing. It would have been nice if he did get in as my husband went there for his doctorate, but after reviewing this board and reading many articles, I donāt think he has the stats to. This is the last school that we are really waiting on, but itās been the most emotional for me - my husband is still a HUGE fan of Auburn, so it would have been neat. I hope you are all doing well.
Deferred isnāt rejection but actually youāve instilled your son with the right attitude. Heās agnostic. Heās going somewhere. Donāt forget, itās his, not your hubbyās experience. Heāll simply start a new family tradition.
Awww, thank you so much for your reply⦠You are 100% correct and really put things into clear perspective for me. I think I AM trying to have him relive his Dadās experience, and honestly, I donāt think he even wants to really go there! Thanks again for your response as itās really redirecting my thinking and heart.
Did you ever get more information on this? They have so many different types of days that it gets confusing. I feel like VIT is for anyone accepted or is there a certain academic standard?
Students invited to VIT generally qualify for the top scholarship tier (like ACT of 33 and up). The tier down usually gets a TALONS invite.
VIT is a very āindividualizedā tour aimed at very high achievers. Itās likely to be one on one and focuses on a studentās particular interests/major etc.
Thank you. And thanks for your response on my other post too. Based on what you said here, I donāt know if we go 2/8, which seems to be one of the first days for admitted students, or wait to see if DS gets either a VIT or Talons invite.
In the past, it has been based on ACT score, so you should get a good idea which one he will get invited to according to that. We do not live too far away, so we went to every event my daughter was invited to. Looking back a couple years ago, looks like TALONS email invite came out late Jan/early Feb and we went in March. Would highly recommend if your son gets an invite! War Eagle Days are fun too, but definitely feel more ācourtedā at TALONS.
Does anyone know the dates for VIT Days or did they already pass? My daughter just improved her ACT superscore to a 33 on the December test and was just curious if she might be invited to VIT or if they are already done.
I sent a message asking a few questions about VIT and TALONS information. If and when I hear back, and if I get that information, I will let you know.
I didnāt get much information in my response. Basically, only that the dates for TALONS days are four days in March (7, 17, 21 and 24) and that it is invite only (which we knew). At first, the response made it seem like invites went out already but then when I followed up on that they said they are working on the invites and students would be notified in the future. So, not sure if some got the invite yet or no one and not sure when invites will go out. Sorry I canāt be more help.
I also asked about VIT days but I didnāt get any information on that in response.
The Destination Auburn days are for any admitted student.
War Eagle!
Thanks for this info. Does anyone know if thereās much of a difference between War Eagle Days and TALON Day?
We went to WED in November but curious if Talons would be beneficial for a student still making their decision.
We went to both, and I would say TALONS is more ātargetedā with the intention of convincing kids to choose Auburn. More personalized experience and a deeper dive into things that may appeal to high achieving students, like Honors, research etc.
Where do I find all these things like updated GPAs and such in the portal? After I log in, I usually go to application and check status. Where should I go aside from there to check on calculated GPAs?
If you log into your Auburn portal and go to āview and edit applicant fileā, it will show the GPA that Auburn recalculated and your test scores (if submitted).
FWIW my kidās GPA was not recalculated. Their school uses a very unique weighting system that weights AP classes with a .25 extra, so the GPA with 7 AP classes and a few honors (mostly Aās) is still ālowā. It was not recalculated.
Kids are having an absolute blast in the snow - Alabama, especial in Auburn, doesnāt typically get this much.
Question for any 2nd time Auburn parentsā¦if the kids have to do housing in March - arenāt many/most of them waiting to hear from other schoolsā¦so then do they find roommates and switch around if one of them gets in elsewhere? Seems so early to do housing when a lot of kids are waiting on UGA, USC, Clemson, UNC, etc. for deferrals or RD decisions. Any thoughts or experiences out there?
