Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

High probability of RD if you let them know you’re still interested. Sounds like yield protection

Our semester doesn’t end until January 17th and report cards come out a few days later. I can still submit first quarter, but they won’t recalculate GPA and rank until after the end of the quarter. Oh well. We’ll do the best we can.

Clemson definitely yield protects. No question. No shade - yield is important

Can you explain what this means?

Same with us. Midterms aren’t until mid-January and report cards a few days later. We plan to submit Q1 grades and give estimate on 1st semester. Hard to do before midterms though.

I disagree. Data I’ve seen just doesn’t support this. Most schools that yield protect offer at least one, if not 2, rounds of ED.

Clemson does not consider DI as a factor.

There are only a few public schools in the nation offering ED.

I got this same email last year and asked if they would take fall term grades even if after the deadline. I was told to provide a prediction in the form before the deadline and email if there were any changes at the end of the term.

Our school Naviance shows all acceptances over a certain threshold. There is no evidence that they yield protect from our HS.

Same for our entire school district’s (one of the 50 largest in the US) acceptance chart in Schoolinks.

Agreed.

I have a senior at Clemson and a sophomore at Auburn. Love Clemson but think Auburn is a really special place. Any kid would be really lucky to be part of the Auburn family.

it is competitive, but it’s not a closed major (like nursing, construction management, health sciences, etc.) for example, an admitted student with another major can switch into Biosci, but not into a closed major.

Auburn is wonderful! A blessing to have two kids at two great schools! Clemson is a smaller version of Auburn, with a lake. Live in Auburn and my DD wants to go to Clemson….free tuition 5 miles from our house :weary:.

What do you particularly love about Auburn?

My child was deferred for Architecture.
In state, double legacy, 1480 SAT, 3.82 UW/4.77 W GPA, 8 AP, 6 DE, Calc AB/BC, Varsity athlete 3-years (1-yr JV), NHS, top 15% class rank, internships/shadowing, tons of volunteering, leadership… Thinking the class rank (not top 10%) set him back in a closed major EA?
Hoping for good news during RD.

My son LOVES Auburn. He is so happy he got in. He has a lot of ties to Clemson though as he grew up going to games there. Dad, both aunts graduated from there and his grandfather in Greenville taught finance there for many years. He is 85% sure he is going to Auburn. But will wait for Clemson decisions in Feb. We know Clemson pulls A LOT from waitlist… but he’s not interested in that. Thank you!!

For the waitlist information, you can look at the Common Data Set. Only 2023 info is posted yet. But this shows the 2023 data: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/articles/colleges-that-admit-the-most-students-off-the-waitlist

Our school is on a trimester system and fall grades were sent a few weeks ago so they’ve had them prior to making an admissions decision. So im at a total loss as to what we can send prior to Jan 10. Winter tri grades come out around March 8-10 and mid-.trimester snapshot grades come out towards end of Jan. Son emailed counselor about this and waiting to see what he says but any thoughts if you were in this situation what if anything would you send before Jan 10?
