Hi. How do you see the info on your specific high school? Is it a program they use or accessible to all? Curious because I have no clue what the stats are for DD high school
In a school of 20K plus individuals, there really is no such thing as a school that parties, doesnât party, or somewhat parties. Even those with that blanket reputation (historically), have in many cases become highly reputable and selective schools (e.g. see San Diego State university) which continue to be on the rise. UC-Boulder is a great university and continues to gain in reputation.
Lots of schools use Scoir, Naviance or other programs that can provide info of a âscattergramâ style that is based on GPA/test scores. You can then see where you fall compared to your schoolmates related to those metrics. Frequently unknown might be exact major, were they admitted to alternate major, their activities, etc. It may be available only in the student portal. It is helpful to use to help in figuring out whether something might be a likely or stretch school.
It will look something like this (example is Michigan because it has a lot of types of activity and few admits):
Love your positivity
Is your scattergram based on several years worth of data? We use Naviance and its scattergram is 7 years worth of data (at least) so its hard to see data specifically from recent years outside of the number who applied and got accepted (which is listed by year)
Ours is 3 years worth of data, or you can select any given year. Can even select class of 2025, but it wonât populate until there is enough data that it isnât readily discernible which students are each data point (which is why I didnât include the Class of 2025 Clemson one because there is only 8 students shown so far with just admits/defers and no other combinations). We can even hover over a data point to get more information (major, test optional, EA/RD, etc.).
luckyâours is worthless
only problem with these (our school uses Naviance) is that the data are dependent on accurate entry (e.g. GPA may not incorporate dual enrollment/ 2ndary high schools) and the outcome depends on the student going into the system to provide the data (status). In my experience, at least for my DS school, this isnât complete. For what itâs worth, here it is for our large public high school in the CA bay area. The number of applied and admitted (and therefore the mean GPA) are likely not completely accurate
Did you write the personal statement recently over the past few days for this yearâs deferrals, or was that last year?
PurpleSunset, if you hover over each dot it will often show you the intended major and test optional. Also, can look at the âchartâ version instead of the scattergram - and itâs a spreadsheet style listing.
I responded prior to seeing your second message about this - so please disregard this comment.
Is it possible to update the SRAR? I guess I figured once submitted it was âlockedâ
This was last year.
I want to know this too. Does anyone know how to submit an estimate of first semester grades? Dcâs first semester doesnât end until Jan. 22 and I donât see a way to do this on the portal
Hey! I was with you on this ride last year and am so happy to hear she loves it ! My son was EA admission too and he is LOVING life at Clemson. Itâs everything he thought it would be and more . Man I miss button gate
100% start showing demonstrated interest . Email your local rep, show up to meet and greets . Comment and like social media posts⊠good luck !
I saw a comment from someone last year who said they emailed admissions and asked this question, and they were told to report current in progress grades in the additional information statement and email them to update them after final semester grades come out if they have changed significantly.
Hi all⊠son is a Freshman at Clemson this Fall and is living his very best life on all levels .
He was an EA admit last fall , and like so many of your awesome students had a great resume
8 th in class, all AP / Honors, clubs, sports, leaderships , volunteerism - you name it
He showed TONS of demonstrated interest prior to applying and while waiting and we really think this helped him in the process.
We did however , receive not $1 in merit of you can believe it . We are OOS and he wasnât even considered for it .
The only thing we could think of was that he went TO but that was never confirmed .
He received 3 full rides elsewhere and lots of merit from other schools but his heart was set on Clemson and luckily we worked towards this financially for years
Good luck to all your students ! If your student is on the fence about committing to Clemson take an extra visit . I can truthfully say the school is magical and very special . Happy Holidays all!
My daughter is a senior, oos and receives merit, but she had good scores, showed zero demonstrated interest, it was a whim.
Yup, most likely those scores !
