What app??
The problem here is that we cannot replicate the issue. I am not experiencing it (compared to the other generic issues) and the devs cannot reproduce it either. Also, it does not seem to affect all users as there are only a handful that are reporting it.
I hear you when you say that asking users for such detailed work is a pain but not sure what other option we have to get to the bottom of this
.
That’s because there are only a handful of users who actually read this section of the forum.
I’m using safari and it’s working fine for me, btw. So I don’t think it’s just a browser issue for those that are still having issues.
I don’t read by forum, and I think many users are the same. So, if they read like me using “latest” and/or “new” they are seeing this thread.
ETA: This thread has over 1K views
Plot twist: safari is working fine on my phone but I have the same issue as others on my iPad ![]()
For me, the behavior at this time seems to be fairly consistent. I click on a thread, the forum takes me to the latest message in the thread, then immediately jumps one screen down.
When the latest message is short, I end up at the bottom of the page as described by @momofboiler1 above, but if the message is long or if there are a lot of recent messages, I don’t go all the way to the bottom; it seems to be only jumping down by one screen.
(Also, I haven’t been noticing this problem on my phone, just on the laptop.)
Wanted to give an update that the tech team has finally been able to replicate the issue. While it may take 1-2 weeks for any progress to be made, at least they now know what needs to be fixed. Thanks for your understanding while we are working to fix this!
Thank you to the tech team for their persistence.
Just letting you know…I’m still being take to the bottom of a page when I use this forum. Have to scroll up to get to anything.
no change.
Same for me.
For me again as well on my iPad, but not on my phone (both safari)
UPDATE: The tech team confirmed they have pushed an update that we’re hoping has fixed the jump to the bottom of the screen issue on Safari. Please let me know if you still encounter the problem. Thanks!
What about other browsers?
Based on reports, the issue was occurring on Safari. Wasn’t that the case?
I’m sorry to report that I’m still having issues with the page going to the very bottom from my laptop on Safari.
I know this is another ask, but here are some instructions from the tech team on how to test the changes:
since the fix was added in a new theme component the users may have to do a hard refresh (reset cache) for the fix to load, or start a new browser session or private tab. On my browser hard refresh is (ctrl + F5) or (ctrl + shift + R).
I believe on Mac/Safari it’s (⌘ cmd + shift + R).
They also added:
If users start a new browser session they should be getting a full fresh load of the site, but if they had a stale browser session still open from yesterday for instance, they might not load the new theme component unless they hard refresh manually.
@skieurope, the tech team could not replicate the issue on other browsers (only on Safari on MacOS and only on certain topics). Could you provide your OS/browser version info, even a recording to help determine if it’s the same bug?
I still get taken to the BOTTOM just about every time. You know…I can scroll up and figure it out. But if I were a new user, I would just exit the site.
iPad using Safari.
