Ohio State Class of 2026 Admission

If the apps had been reviewed and were deferred, but some technical issue prevented them from posting the decision as scheduled on Friday, then the decisions would have posted on Monday. Instead they waited until end of day Tuesday. I bet there was a big meeting about what to do with the pile of EA apps that never got reviewed, and having already allocated all of their available EA acceptance spots, and having already moved on to reviewing regular decision apps, they decided to just defer the whole batch.

Sounds very plausible. And totally unacceptable.

I have been working with a very strong OOS student who was deferred. Very surprised. I seriously doubt they reviewed her app at all. She would have been near top of applicant pool.

Does anyone know anyone who’s portal hasn’t been updated yet?

I don’t know :woman_shrugging:t3:

I didn’t see my son’s portal but I think it said deferred to 3/25. If they were unable to get to them, why not defer them to the first date? Although based on having gone through 2 target dates with nothing, we’d prob end up there anyway… #disheartnedinnj

Deferred. Ohio

Apparently Rutgers just announced they need an additional 2 weeks to review the overwhelming number of EA apps received. Notification by 2/15 now for RU. At least they’re being transparent

Deferred OOS NJ just heard back this morning submitted app 9/1 4.3 weighted gpa . Friends heard back in Dec and accepted with lower stats 3.5-3.7

I think anyone that did not hear on 12/10, got deferred. Not fair at all for EA applicants to now be pushed off to the regular decision applicant pool. The fact that everyone is now getting deferred, there is no way they reviewed any of these applications. My daughter has friends who have lower stats than her were admitted in the 12/10 wave and she heard yesterday and got deferred-makes zero sense. They deferred all these applications since they did not review any and needed more time but just didn’t want to publicly say it. that’s my take!

totally agree with you-my daughter was deferred and she has friends with lower stats than her and got admitted on 12/10… I think they didn’t review any of these applications. To defer as many people as they did in one day, they automatically took these apps and deferred.

Do you think these applications will get priority before regular? I hope so.

Same thing is happening to me at Northeastern. High stats, got into OhIo State, Purdue and into Honors college and just got deferred at Northeastern. I feel like none of the admissions process makes sense anywhere.

Makes me wonder how people can only apply to 5 schools. it is no unpredictable. My son got into purdue but deferred at ohio state.

Such craziness. What program did he apply for? I am Engineering.

Same here and I completely agree with you!

I’m guessing “no”. There is no rhyme or reason to this process. Heard one kid admitted to the business school on 1/21, and one rejected on 1/21. Sounds like EVERYONE who heard on Tues was deferred. The question is, were all of these kids deferred and the notice was not sent out till Tues, or were these apps not reviewed and they’re buying more time? Grateful we have other options, but the emotional rollercoaster this process causes is unnerving. For my kid and me… LOL!
