From what I understand, not for OSU.
I believe you have to accept your spot at OSU and pay the acceptance deposit, and then you are put in the housing âqueueâ. When they send out housing apps (not sure when they do that), they send them out in order based on when you accepted. The earlier you accept, the better choice of dorms you have. Thatâs my understanding.
You are not allowed to submit a deposit at more than one school, you are risking consequences for your kid
not at OSU, I donât believeâŠyou have to intend to enroll with your deposit and need to be accepted firstâŠ
thanks for that infoâŠI didnât see that rule⊠and I will correct.
I have a daughter who is a junior at Miami and is in the 4-yr combined BS/MS in Biochemistry and also has a co-major and minor. Miami has a lot of research opportunities. My girl has been doing research for the past 2 years and will be starting her masters research. Itâs very personalized. My high school senior son who will be majoring in engineering is weighing his options because his first choice is OSU, but loves the idea of getting both a BS/MS in 4 years.
I canât imagine that $100 would really lock in anyone considering the cost of a college degree.
Double depositing is highly unethical. I am sure people do it, but itâs considered to be a no-no. It may only be $100, but itâs the commitment thatâs relevant.
Does anyone know if you receive the morrill scholarship what is required⊠are there special courses you have to take? Events you must participate in? Wondering how big of a commitment it is. Thank you!
Has anyone gotten a.l decision yet for Morrill?
Think itâs on their site for more info
I definitely donât think anyone should double deposit. I just meant I donât think a deposit would have any affect on merit awards.
Hello All, the EA app for my S22 still shows as under âEvaluationâ for Ohio State. Anyone else having the same status?
OOS
4 UWGPA and 4.8 UWGPA
SAT 1310
9 AS and A level courses
Tks
I am not sure that is true anymore. For 2021 housing, every student received a lottery number (regardless of when their deposit was placed), and the lower the lottery number the earlier slot you got to pick your room.
Doesnât appear that it is on a first come, first served basis anymore:
https://housing.osu.edu/posts/documents/columbus-housing-room-selection-faq-2021.pdf
The lottery is not for incoming freshman itâs for existing freshman picking their sophomore housing. For incoming freshman it is based on date of deposit.
Oh, interesting. Thanks!
Does that mean incoming freshman donât get to individually pick rooms like sophomores do in the system, they just put generalized preferences of prices and location?
Not sure what the page actually states by my EA child has yet to receive an answer either
Correct- they list location and rate, they donât get to select rooms in buildings. For example my DD selected South, Rate 1 as her first choice when she was an incoming freshman.
is anyone still waiting to hear back from Honors? My son was admitted in December.
Yes, my son still has not heard re EA.
