Ohio State Class of 2026 Admission

Does anyone know when decisions will be released for all the EA applicants that got deferred in the 1/21 batch? Is it being released on one day or rolling until March 25?

I did over 10 AP courses and Dual Enrollment classes through OSU and CSCC. My unweighted GPA is around 3.90.

The activity I talked about in my Morrill essay was an initiative to promote STEM in underrepresented and underserved areas across Ohio.

Dd was told March 25. Wish it were sooner!

if it’s a great fit, then perhaps you just make it work with student loans
?

My DD did something similar but more about gender within STEM.

We are going to wait and see. Hoping OSU comes back with some kind of merit scholarship. She has gotten pretty good packages to all the other schools she’s applied to. Even though this seems like the best fit, starting your life $120,000 in debt appears foolish. Ultimately, it is her decision though.

We are in state, too.

What happens if you accept the offer of admission and pay the $100 deposit to trigger housing but then decide to not go to OSU? My son has it down to two schools and he doesn’t want to get put on the bottom for housing if he decides later.

I know the deposit is non refundable but does anything else happen? I assume it’s not binding?

We are thinking of doing that, too. We are just scared that they will then scrap any scholarship money if we accept before we hear about that.

We have our scholarship money so I think we are going to pay it.

Gotcha! It would be a no brainer for us to risk losing the $100 if we knew that we could afford the OOS tuition.

No, they can’t force you to attend. Losing the deposit is the risk.

You would lose the deposit if you end up deciding not to go. It’s not “binding”. But it is unethical if you’re just putting the deposit down to “save a spot” and you haven’t really decided to commit to going to OSU.

I wish they would do housing like other schools. You can secure a housing spot without accepting admission as long as you cancel as of a certain date. Housing is a big deal and it’s a lot less stressful to know you have a place in line. Helps with making final decisions too. We have housing deposits at a few places. Wish OSU would do it that way instead.

Are they in the honors or scholars program? If so, they will already have housing. That’s the only reason we are not stressing, because my kids dorm is already picked out for them. However, we want to assume she gets a spot in that dorm.

My son’s school counselor talked to admissions and was told this.

We were told in an Admitted Students session that it wouldn’t make a difference, so that is what we did. I know it is only one example, but my daughter had received notification of a $3,000 scholarship (we are in state). She accepted and paid the $100 to get in line for housing and three weeks later was notified about receiving the Morrill scholarship. Accepting did not seem to negatively impact a scholarship decision.

Alternative view: it’s unethical to have non refundable housing deposits and force people to pay to ‘get in line’ for housing. Don’t hate the player, hate the game
