When my son was admitted last year they send a box with a banner/flag and stickers and some other stuff I can’t remember.
My daughter was admitted from
the waitlist but did not accept the spot. They did not specify major.
does anyone know when they release transfer decisions?
The major is specified after the student accepts the spot off the wl. - not the same as accepting admission, and not binding. For DS, and others he spoke with, they got the major they originally applied with
Her first choice major was nursing. With the competitive nature of that major, we figured it would be her second choice major that she got in to. She opted to stay the coarse and stick with Purdue.

My son just got a text about 15 minutes ago saying he’s off the waitlist. But he can’t see what his major is unless he clicks on the link that says “Yes, I want to reserve my spot and I will be ready to enroll by May 15.” So what is he saying yes to? He needs to see his major to make a decision. Help?
Log into the portal and check.
saying yes is not binding. After you say yes, you will see the acceptance in the portal with major in a day or so. The people I’ve spoken with got their original major. HTHs.

My good friend’s message said had 48 hours to decide. If they don’t hear back by May 3 they assume its a no.

OOS DS24 just received same “congrats” text… same questions… what major is he admitted for? Is this typical wait-list admit process?. possible to not admit applicant to the major they applied exists I can imagine… Haslam applicant, but does UTK have Pre-Business admit like IU Kelley? or DUS Undergraduate Studies with entry to major requirements like Penn State?
(Penn State University Park with LEAP summer start in hand… not likely to give this up…thoughts?)
The wording of their text and portal content is really confusing, but it appears that what they’re asking is essentially, “Do you want to be offered admission?” That’s what you’re saying yes to within 48 hours. Then you have until May 15 to actually give them a decision as to whether you accept. Again, the wording is super unclear, but that seems to be what makes sense, and what people are saying here. FWIW.

My son clicked the “yes” button, and his portal now says he’ll get an official offer with information about his major within 5 days.

That’s correct. It’s a yield tactic (used by many schools, not just UTK).
