I received this but not sure this means I was actually admitted. When do they announce the decisions?

Been reading all the posts about the email after signing up for the Admitted Students tour. I decided to shoot an email to a friend who works in the IT department for UTK. He said the Admitted Student email checks the backend system for the admission status and department/college and prints it out on the email. UTK knows this is a glitch and did not expect people still waiting for a decision to sign up for an admitted student tour.
What this means is anybody who is still waiting for a decision but signed up for the Admitted Student Tour and had the major and department listed is admitted but decision will only show on status page when released. Anybody who signed up but did not have a major listed is probably still under review or waitlisted. They will be reviewing applications till Feb 18th. That’s when the IT department has been told to refresh the databases. They have still not been told when the admission decisions will be released officially but based on what he is saying anybody who is still waiting for a decision and signed up for the “Admitted Student Tour” and got an email with major listed is admitted. For those who do not have major listed either they are waitlisted or still being reviewed. Those denied cannot sign up for the Admitted Student tour even if decision is not yet released because the system will not allow it.
I tried both my admitted daughter and email had everything and the second daughter who was deferred and we are waiting for decision and her email did not have major listed so she is still probably under review.

Thank you for posting this, my daughters confirmation yesterday for the tour did not have a major populated in the text so I was feeling a bit crummy. UTK is her number one and her brother is a freshman there so it would be nice for them both to be out of state in TN together. I’m sure you, and your daughters feel the same and I hope your second daughter is also accepted. (:

Is her major Undeclared? That may be why nothing was filled in.

No she had a major 1 and 2 on her original application.

Got the email, with the major! If he is admitted we want to keep the date and definitely go on the tour. Picked a day that works for our admitted student US tour during Spring Break. I hope they release decisions soon, so that we can either release the tour to another student, or finalize travel plans. Fingers crossed everyone.

I do not trust any information without actually seeing it myself. Although what i posted yesterday was from a reliable source it does not mean he/she knows everything accurately.
Based on my personal experience, this process is excruciating especially for a person like me who wants to get things done ASAP. I know our kids are the whole reason we do most of the things in our life and I hope “SINCERELY WISH” that everybody who wants to get into UTK and has the right amount of credentials can get admitted.
I would also request folks who got admitted during early action who are not planning to go to UTK decline the offer so the seat opens up for somebody else.

My son’s changed today to admitted to Finance.
@shahs.1900, I think your IT friend was correct and I always trust but verify. I’ll remain hopeful and keep the tour. Thx again for making the call and sharing the info.
Yes. What makes me nervous about thinking this is good news, is that it’s working the same for everyone who’s tried it. Everyone is getting the email with admitted major, no one is unable to sign up. So could mean nothing. Ugh! Just release decisions already!

Based off of last year thread it should be next Tuesday and they announced the official day/time the night before based off of twitter posts in Feb 2023.
