FWIW, My son’s major was never on his portal either but the admitted student campus tour email included his major.

tried it last night and major was there. Tried it again now and got email with major left blank. Now I’m worried.
It could be that they patched the system. I think it’s a good sign if anyone saw it at one point or another.

I just did it again and first choice major is still listed, so I don’t think it’s been patched. Definitely agree it’s a good sign if it was there at one point though.

Daughter was admitted in the first batch of EA, but just found out this week she was wait-listed for Chancellors Honors College, this is the only school I’ve seen use a wait-list for Honors College so I don’t know what the chances of being admitted at a later date might be.
Just got good news for my second daughter who was also deferred at Clemson. She was admitted at Clemson. Right now the race is between
a) OSU Ohio State 1 admitted 1 deferred (will know in March) In State
b) UTK 1 Admitted(13K scholarship) - 1 deferred (Email has major ) OOS
c) Univ Of Cincinnati Both admitted (8K scholarships both) In State
d) Clemson Both Admitted (NO scholarships as yet) OOS
e) Univ Of Kentucky both admitted with 25K scholarships each OOS
f) Wright State Univ : Both Accepted - In State
Both will probably be going to same school unless one gets a full ride somewhere they might split up. That’s the preference order

My sons friend just got weight listed at Clemson. Told her she would know by June, is this normal? First go around
Waitlisted is when they exceed the targeted admission quotas for programs. This means as soon as people start declining their admittance the waitlisted folks start getting accepted

My daughter is lower stats, and was able to receive the email. It had her 2nd choice major, not our first choice of nursing.

First choice major was in the campus tour confirmation email we just received … and we had the “admitted major” reveal a few weeks ago. didn’t see Smokey Dog.

I am also thinking the SRAR issue for lot of folks ( We did not have it and my 2nd one sent in her 7th semester grade and an academic recommendation She is now 23 out of 397 students top 8%) might have resulted in a higher approval rate (based on email majors still unsure if that is really indicating an approval)
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. My daughter was also excepted. EA, called late last week because she hadn’t heard anything about honors and they said they were having glitches with their portal. She hasn’t heard back yet. Maybe she’ll hear next week. Hope your daughter gets in

Sorry to be a bit contrarian, but I don’t think it works quite that way.
Let’s say a program’s target is to admit 200 students. The school might offer admission to 500 students, knowing that historically only 40% of those offered admission will end up accepting (the yield). The school could then waitlist 100 more students who meet the school’s admissions criteria.
But those on the waitlist won’t be offered admission unless, in my example, the yield slips below 40%. To be clear, 40% is just my made up example - yields are going to vary from school to school, program to program. I think the yield at Harvard is over 80%, whereas the yield at UTK is closer to 25%.
Generally, schools will wait to go to the waitlist after May 1 (decision day), although they could go to the waitlist earlier if the yield numbers really start to slip.
So it isn’t quite the case that one student declining equals one student off the waitlist. Schools know and expect that not everyone offered admission will attend.

I just called admissions office to see if they had a date for decisions and he said “late February” but probably the week AFTER next. He said they didn’t know the date yet. I hope he’s wrong and it’s next week but I’m not optimistic for that with UTK since it took so long in December. Hold tight everyone!
