I’m pretty sure they don’t do that at UTK. Something else is going on there:
- Bad gpa? If so, then I’m wrong about UTK totally going off ACT/SAT.
- Friend not being honest about either deferral or ACT score.
It’s probably #1 and I am just wrong.

Our daughter’s stats are similar and she was rejected from Honors. OOS 1480 SAT 4.8 UTK GPA, Great EC’s (club founder, pres and vice pres of others), Valedictorian (1 of 400), 10 APs, 19 DE college courses, merit scholarship, varsity sport etc. She didn’t have the SRAR glitch and was accepted to the school on the original release day. We got the email saying she was rejected from Honors and a separate rejection for Haslam. It’s brought UTK down a bit for her (they were kind of a mess with admission process) when she really liked it before.

Was she rejected from the Business School? Where was she accepted at UTK? And yes I think the SRAR glitch has negatively affected UTK’s rep with a lot of families.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. Rejected for the Haslam Scholarship and Honors program. She was accepted Pre-Medicine 
We call UTK her “first love” because it was her first college tour and she fell in love. Such a bummer.

Is her Honors Program rejection noted anywhere? D24 was also accepted EA and rejected from Haslam Scholarship, but have heard nothing about Honors program and are curious as how long to wait before needing some type of follow up with AO to confirm rejection…
She said it was an email (a separate email from the haslam scholarship rejection). I don’t think it is listed in the portal. Maybe still hope for your kiddo 
My son was one of the first to call to highlight the issue and he was deferred. Please don’t state that all early callers got in because it is not true and can cause alarm to other students.

First of all I don’t believe I ever said all kids, I said some. The school totally dropped the ball. We know of several deferred who aren’t on this forum to even know there was a glitch to begin with(they had srar issues and didn’t know why. They were not notified in any way. I emailed our admission counselor twice and left her 2 messages, only replied back to me after
calling her out on cc- coincidently a few hours later, otherwise I’m pretty sure I’d still be waiting.
I in no way want to alarm anyone, especially kids

Regarding Chancellor’s honors program, my daughter’s acceptance letter included acceptance in the honors program and listed all merit information. They are asking for a deposit to the honors program by 4/1 to hold their place…a full month ahead of the 5/1 decision day. Some of the schools she applied to won’t come out with their decision until 4/1.
If you are concerned about their acceptance into the Chancellor’s honors program, I would call admissions and ask. Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear.
Is there a housing deposit fee? Anyone to that point yet?
Has anyone heard from cooks honors for engineering? My kiddo really hoping for that one!
My son just received a text that there will no longer be a deadline within which to send additional materials to the Admissions office (for deferred students).

Interesting. They probably received too many questions on this
same… good to see UTK displaying some transparent communication… it’s easy to do; the kids need it after the SRAR misstep.

They must be reading this thread. How was your son notified? No notification at all here, but the portal no longer has the deadline listed.
Communication from UTK could be improved.
i had the glitch, no email, no call and no response when I directly asked when they confirmed all my information was submitted. I cannot get a reply from my AC at all - I asked for any assistance which was generically offered earlier in the process. I have yet to receive anything from UTK unless I send quite a few questions on the same topic which I have not done often. I know this is probably not right but this experience has dropped it down on my list.
